Coverage comes from Ofcom's mobile signal strength measurements: spectrum assurance vehicles record per-operator 4G signal (RSRP) while driving the road network, released as open data. A stretch counts as 4G/5G where the best measured signal reaches −105 dBm, as degraded where it was detected but weaker, and as no signal where the survey found none. Stretches the vehicles never drove are shown separately as “not surveyed” — an absence of data, not an absence of signal. Measurements are from a vehicle-mounted antenna; handheld reception can differ.
