What service does TrailSim provide?
TrailSim provides route coverage information, compares the modeled coverage of network combinations available to listed eSIM plans and may recommend a plan for a specific route. Reports can include an online map, stage-by-stage estimates, likely dead zones, a PDF map document and a GPX GPS route file.
TrailSim is not a mobile network operator, emergency service or substitute for professional route planning. Mobile service is provided through the networks listed for each eSIM plan.
How should coverage estimates be used?
TrailSim coverage reports are modeled from public route and cellular network data, including OpenStreetMap route geometry and OpenCellID tower records. They are estimates, not live measurements or guarantees. Actual reception can vary with terrain, buildings, weather, network load, roaming restrictions, your device and changes made by operators.
Never rely on TrailSim or any mobile coverage map as your only safety plan in a remote area. Download appropriate maps before departure, tell someone your itinerary and carry a suitable backup or emergency communication method.
What are the online report, PDF and GPX files?
- The online report is a browser-based coverage summary and normally requires internet access.
- The PDF is a fixed-layout coverage map document that can be downloaded to a phone and opened offline or printed.
- The GPX is a standard GPS route file containing the route and dead-zone waypoints for compatible navigation apps.
A GPX file does not include a basemap. Download the navigation app's offline map data separately before your trip. Downloads are provided for personal trip planning and do not guarantee navigation accuracy, mobile coverage or availability in every third-party app.
What exactly does an order include, and when does it arrive?
eSIM purchasing is open across the route catalog. On routes with a published coverage report, every paid order includes that report — the offline PDF and GPX described above — in the delivery email. Routes without a published report say so plainly on the route page before you buy; orders on those routes deliver the eSIM only.
Orders are delivered by email, typically within minutes of payment. Delivery times are not contractually guaranteed: if your order has not arrived within an hour, check your spam folder and then contact support@trailsim.com — we will resend it or refund the order under the refund policy. Any checkout clearly labeled as test or demo mode is for testing only, does not charge real money and does not create a real paid eSIM purchase.
What third-party services and data does TrailSim use?
Route, cellular coverage, payment, email and navigation functions can depend on third-party services. OpenStreetMap and OpenCellID data remain subject to their respective licenses. Stripe, Cloudflare, Amazon Web Services SES and navigation apps operate under their own terms and policies. TrailSim is not responsible for third-party availability or for changes those providers make to their services or data.
Acceptable use
You may not:
- Use automated requests, scraping or submissions in a way that disrupts or overloads the service.
- Resell, misrepresent or remove attribution from TrailSim reports or third-party data.
- Use the website to send spam, introduce malicious code or attempt unauthorized access.
- Use TrailSim content or services for unlawful purposes.
Intellectual property and permitted use
The TrailSim name, logo, original website copy, design and report presentation are owned by TrailSim or its licensors. You may download and use a route report for personal trip planning. OpenStreetMap, OpenCellID and other third-party data remain owned or licensed by their respective contributors and providers; required source and license attributions are shown in applicable reports.
Website availability and changes
We may correct, update, suspend or discontinue website features, route data or reports. We do not guarantee uninterrupted access, permanent availability of a report link or a specific delivery time. Save any PDF or GPX file you need before departure.
Liability
To the maximum extent permitted by law, TrailSim is not liable for losses arising from reliance on coverage estimates, unavailable mobile signal, inaccurate third-party data, use of a PDF or GPX file, third-party service failures or interruptions to this website. Nothing in these terms excludes or limits liability that cannot legally be excluded or limited.
Changes to these terms
We may update these terms as the service changes. The last-updated date will identify the current version. Continued use after an update means the revised terms apply from that point.
